The Founding Era

 What I Learned

Prior to watching the video, I had very little knowledge about the Supreme Court. I am not one that knows a lot about politics or follows any political party.

I thought it was interesting to learn that not all cases are accepted by the Supreme Court. Each case is assisted by a staff of law clerks and secretaries that help decide whether or not the case gets accepted. I thought every case got looked over and got sent to a higher court. The most surprising thing I learned was that the Chief Justice singlehandedly has the power to impeach a president. It changed my view because I never realized how important a case had to be to make it all the way to the Supreme Court. Many cases don't make it to the Supreme Court but one that changed the course of the country was Roe v. Wade. Here is the current Supreme Court.
I learned that the Supreme Court has to wait to start resolving cases. They have to wait for cases to be brought to their attention. Once the case has been brewing for a while and is getting more serious, they will finally make a ruling.
